In the early 1970’s Eran Bauer was a paratrooper in the British Army Parachute Regiment where he specialised in Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) defence and training. He also qualified as a Regimental Signals Instructor at the School of Infantry in Warminster.
In-service he won airborne ‘wings’ with the Belgian Army and US Special Forces Italy.
In 1991 when the First Gulf War started Eran was invited by His Excellency Prince Faisal bin Faisal bin Faisal to assist the Saudi Civil Defence in civilian defensive training and equipment selection.
Led by Eran, his team travelled the entire Kingdom delivering front-line training as well as inspecting incoming protective equipment, rejecting $ millions as unfit for purpose. All his training was filmed and some formed part of official TV public training. Eran’s Saudi team supported from the UK created the only Lloyds Insurance approved maritime personnel CBRN protective kits alongside the UK Royal Navy and Shell who delivered the training being the only official CBRN defence programme protecting all oil tankers crews shipping vital fuel supplies throughout the entire First Gulf War.
Eran created the latest riot control tactics, training and equipment resulting in the total re-equipment of the UK Prison Service under their Control & Restriant Programme remaining unchanged after 30 years service, then followed by the entire re-equipment Of the British Ministry Of Defence in riot control, the Police Service Northern Ireland and then all United Kingdom Police.
Eran conceived the need for proper testing and certification of operational Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which then became British Standards BS 7971 which has now become the international ‘Gold Standard’ for police and military PPE and now forms the basis of all new USA ASTM Standards and why Eran Bauer is now working in the United States as part of numerous law enfocement, operational and Standards Committees drafting the next generation of International Standards.
Eran and his wife Linda now regularly fly to
the USA involved with various law enforcement
related projects as well as Standards and
other Committee responsibilities.
Eran is now in his late 60’s and although he is a Disabled Veteran he is very active in all aspects of consultancy and advice
